Pet Sit Pros finishes out a great year in Long Beach

2011 was a great year for the Pet Sit Pros family. Long Beach is a very pet friendly city and there are numerous pet sitters and dog walkers in the area. While 2011 was our 3rd year in the Long Beach area, we started the year with a client base of 30 families and a newly hired staff of 2 pet sitters/dog walkers working primarily in the Lakewood area. In February, we expanded our service area to include all of Long Beach including Belmont Shore and Downtown Long Beach with one additional pet sitter/dog walker. By the end of the summer demand for our dog walking and pet sitting service had grown so much that we had to hire more staff. This Fall we added Seal Beach and Rossmoor to our service area and by Christmas we had a staff of 9 pet sitters/dog walkers serving 165 client families and had our busiest month ever. While our growth in Long Beach has been much greater than expected, our slogan the Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Professionals has always reminded us that we must always provide the best possible service and care to our clients. Pet Sit Pros has developed the reputation as the best in the pet sitting business in the Long Beach area. Pet Sit Pros – Key Policy Info

*Important PSP Key Policy: We will need to have 2 sets of keys before your trip. If only one set of keys is provided, Pet Sit Pros will make an additional copy for a fee of $15 which will be added to the first appointment. Please have keys ready at the Meet & Greet or you can schedule the additional key pickup ($20) or drop off service ($20) when you make your reservation online. Some clients use a combination lockbox for their sitter to access the key on site or allow entry through a garage with a code. We are pretty flexible in coming up with solutions that work for you without any extra key exchange charges but if your pet sitter needs to make extra trips to pick up and drop off keys they do need to be paid for their time.

Pet Sit Pros will never leave your keys locked inside your home before your return as your sitter may have to access your home to care for your pets in the event you have an unforeseen delay in your return due to illness, cancelled flights, car accidents, freeway closures, blizzards, hurricanes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes or other natural disasters. (No joke. All of these things have actually delayed our clients from getting home on time to be with their pets.) Most clients leave a key with us permanently so we can accommodate last minute emergencies and to avoid the hassle and expense of key exchanges. This has come in handy a number of times when clients have locked themselves out of the house

Pet Sit Pros – the Long Beach Area’s Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Professionals want to take a moment to explain the difference between a pet sitting visit and a dog walking visit and why the price difference. Our dog walking visits are designed so that your canine kids can get out for some nice exercise while you are at work. These visits are 30 minute and aim to get your dog on the streets walking right away and enjoying the sights and smells of the outdoors while working off some of their excess energy. Your dog walker will freshen up the water upon return and resecure your pet according to your directions. These visits are priced at a lower rate of $15 for a single pet on the assumption that dog walks are scheduled much more often that pet sits so there is a discount built in. On the other hand, a pet sitting visit is designed to take care of all your canine kid’s needs while you are away from home on vacation or at work. We also schedule 30 minutes for these visits and they include a shorter walk, feeding per your instructions, fresh water service, poop pickup in the yard, medications and any home care needs. This service is priced at our regular visit price of $18 for a single pet. We hope that explains the difference. For client’s who only book a dog walk every once in a while we will classify the visit as a pet sit since the lower price is supposed to reflect a discount for using the service more often.

Signal Hill/Long Beach Dog Walkers & Pet Sitters

Pet Sit Pros, The Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Professionals had a great day today at Hilltop Park in Signal Hill just a few blocks away from Long Beach. The City of Signal Hill hosted their 2nd annual Hounds on the Hill Event. A few of out pet sitters and dog walkers attended the event to meet new dog walking and pet sitting clients. We got to meet a lot of great families and their pets and hopefully we will be pet sitting for some of them this summer. Pet Sit Pros gave away over 200 free gifts and we got to chat with some local veterinarians from Signal Hill Animal Hospital in Signal Hill and Uptown Animal Hospital in California Heights, Long Beach. In addition we met the owners of Bark! Bark! Doggie Day Care and are looking forward to visiting their second store which just opened in Signal Hill in addition to their Long Beach site. All in all a great day for anybody looking to meet local pet care providers and local businesses that provide pet care services. Kudos to Heidi for organizing the event and our pet sitters, cat sitters and dog walkers look forward to attending next year’s event as well.

NEW SERVICE – Bedtime Check-in Visit

In response to the needs of our clients we have created a new service. You may now request a bedtime check-in. A PSP Professional will visit your home before bedtime to check on your pets, make sure fresh food and water is available and put pets to bed in their crate as necessary. You may also request your sitter to adjust lights and blinds to give your house a lived in look. Perfect addition to an AM Pet Sit PLUS. This service is offered at a flat $15 rate with no extra pet fees! Service does not include a walk or litter box service and may only be booked in conjunction with one of our regular Pet Sits.

Many of our clients have asked if we can recommend a good trainer. Over the last few months I have consulted with multiple trainers in the area to see who might be a good fit for our clients. TIPPING YOUR SITTER MADE EASY

You can now add a tip for your sitter directly to your reservation. When making your reservation just click the box that says “tip for sitter” and let us know how much you would like to add. The amount you specify will be charged to your card with your reservation. With rising gas prices your sitter takes home less and less pay for the same loving care they have always given. Please consider leaving a tip for your sitter to let them know you appreciate the care they give to your pets.
